If You Think You Know St. Petersburg Florida Real Estate, Think Again

St. Petersburg is one of those communities that almost everyone thinks they know but few people understand. The town was once known as “heaven’s waiting room” due to the high percentage of retirees who called it home. Times have changed, however, and so has the city. These days the population is made of a diverse mix of people from all age groups, including a large percentage of families with kids at home as well as couples and single young adults. All of this is good news for those interested in St Petersburg Florida real estate. So here’s a look at three things you can expect to find in this vibrant city.

Nice Weather

St Petersburg isn’t known as the “sunshine city” for nothing. You’ll enjoy clear, sunny skies an average of 360 days per year. While temperatures in the summer can reach into the 90s, plenty of ocean breezes help keep things from heating up too much. In the winters daily highs reach into the mid-70s, with the evenings dipping down into the 50s.

Like the rest of the state, St Petersburg occasionally gets a dose of heavy rain and wind from a hurricane or tropical storm. But overall the city has been quite lucky in this regard. It hasn’t been directly hit by a hurricane since 1921.

A Growing, Diversified Economy

Every so often you’ll read accounts in the media about how St. Petersburg’s economy is struggling. But the truth is that it has come back strong since the 2008 financial crisis, led by a diversified group of enterprises big and small. Some of the largest companies include investment firm Raymond James, several hospitals and medical centers, and international electronics manufacturer Jabil Circuits. The Home Shopping Network has an order fulfillment center in St Petersburg that employs nearly 2000 people. An abundance of medical care and technology companies means that the area is poised to be a major player in the fastest growing segments of the national economy.

A Thriving Arts and Culture Scene, Plus Lots More

St Petersburg is home to several large museums, including one that houses the largest collection of Salvador Dali paintings outside of Europe. The downtown area has a large number of smaller galleries and exhibits as well as several critically acclaimed centers for the performing arts.

St Petersburg Pier is a popular destination for both locals and visitors. It features an aquarium, boat rentals, and weekly festivals. Cha Cha Coconuts Tropical Bar and Grill is world famous for its hospitality and fine food. Both the pier and downtown have vibrant nightlife scenes. And of course there are always the many beaches and islands that are only a short distance away.

What Are you Waiting For?

With all of the things St Petersburg has going for it, why not start looking for your new home today? Whether you’re in the market for a condo on the beach or a single family house with a yard, we can help.
