Visit this prestigious area and you’ll quickly realize why Hillsborough County Florida real estate is such a hot commodity.
Especially popular is Carrollwood, which is divided into older and newer sections. The original, more established community was started in the 1950s. It includes 983 picturesque homes. All of them have access to Lake Carroll, a 200-acre body of water with splendid opportunities for fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities. A fine community recreation center and the two lakes within its borders make the original section of Carrollwood a highly desirable place to live.
In recent years the area has enjoyed a burst of building activity. Known as “New” Carrollwood, this development phase is made up of 30 communities. Some, such as Lake Magdalene and Northdale, are home to middle-income dwellers. Others attract the super-rich. One example is Avila, where houses are luxurious affairs with a minimum of 4000 square feet. Westchase, a planned community on the Hillsborough-Pinellas county line, contains 2000 acres. Westchase, along with Keystone and Odessa, have drawn many affluent buyers to the area.
